The Standard Star Date is one of the most important standards in Elyrion. Developed by a summit of Ir’Mazi and Terran representatives in 38SSD, it has been in use since its inception and is one of the few pre-Silence standards still in common use. 0 SSD is the year of first contact between Terran and Ir’Mazi civilizations, the first known instance of contact between alien species.

Calendar

The SSD calendar is made up of 10 40-day months, each month divided into four ten-day weeks. Each day is divided metrically, with 10 hours each 100 minutes long, each minute consisting of 100 seconds. One Standard Star Day is approximately .95 earth days. Standard Star Dates are denoted year:month:day:hour:minute:second, although year:day notation is also common.
