Castle Deneb

Castle Deneb is a large space station in a high orbit over the black hole of Old Deneb. It is the seat of government of House Emsley, rulers of the Dutchy of Cygnus. It was built by Kalader IV as a regional capital between SSD 2383 and 2395, before it became customary for the Amber King to rule from the royal planet of Ytaj. It was last occupied by an Amber King in 2460. Due to its position along one of the Kingdom's major trade routes and its extensive space-yard facilities, command of the station was formally given over to the Amber Star corporation in 2486. However, its core crew retained substantial loyalty to the Emsley clan, whose presiding elder had held the title of Duke of Cygnus since the first days of the kingdom. In 2499, a mutiny against the corporate rule was staged, and the House Emsley occupied the station to 'suppress' the revolt. Adroit handling of the affair by the house's ambassador to the imperial court, and the infiltration of corporate communications offices by Emsley agents, ensured that the incident was seen by King Richard XI as a sign that Amber Star was unsuited to rulership over such a valuable and fragile asset. It was placed it under Emsley domain shortly thereafter, and the Amber Star's headquarters moved to the nearby planet Soloit, which was placed under their control.
