Dutchy of Cygnus

The Dutchy of Cygnus is a major fief in the Kingdom of the Amber Suns, occupying a large and relatively central region of the kingdom. It is centered on the confluence of the Belledaire Spur of the Novabridge and the Kimelmann Line. Much of the Dutchy’s territory was consolidated by one of the several quixotic efforts at re-establishing pre-Silence departments of the Anazcan Conclave which emerged in Aenaz in the immediate post-Silence period. Following the collapse of the neo-Anazcan government in 2292, it was ruled as an independent kingdom by the House Katharo. In 2414, the Katharo monarchy was overthrown by the Ulen Dynasty, who ruled for only two generations until the kingdom was subsumed by the Kingdom of the Amber Suns in 2463 during the first of the Elgian Crusades. After a period of instability, rulership of the dutchy was consolidated by the House D’Rames. Loyalty to the Ulen monarchs resulted in a series of revolts by coalitions of lesser nobles between 2471 and 2527, known as the Wars of Mutes and Trumpets, during which time the Dutchy’s current borders were stabilized. It is the second most prosperous sector of the Amber Suns after the imperial core.
