Elyrion is home to several sapient species, often referred to collectively as mortalkind. Sapient species are characterized by their intelligent self-awareness and by extension their bearing of aetherial souls in conjunction with a physical body in realspace. A common list of species recognized as self-aware by academics and most national citizenship authorities are listed below.
